IF THE office is to endure as a hive of in-person collaboration and productivity, it must become more than just a workplace, it needs to be a destination. And crucially, that destination must be a smart-enabled space; one that is efficient and personalised, that is able to adapt to the wants and needs of those working within it, and that makes environmental sustainability a priority.
In a post-pandemic world, it’s imperative that the office stands out as the place to be. The changing purpose of offices, evolving from simply “a place of work” into a desirable destination, means that commercial real estate landlords are challenged to create safe, inspirational spaces that allow tenants to collaborate and socialise, while encouraging individual productivity to flourish like never before.
When it comes to smart spaces in Singapore, research shows that 92 per cent of respondents see Singapore as leading the way in smart office buildings, with 86 per cent of occupiers stating that they will not sign a lease for an office building that is not smart-enabled. So smart is more than just a buzzword for the office of tomorrow, it’s a necessity.
