Society has to rebalance wealth for the heroes of Covid-19 outbreak
HELLO from locked-down UK. The sun has been shining for several days after months of cold and damp. This coincides with the Easter weekend, the third one of the restrictions on movement and social meetings. This is causing stress because of the natural desire to get out and enjoy the weather, and is hardest on those who live in cramped conditions. However, it seems the majority of the population is obeying the strictures and - who knows? - it may work and we may look forward to life returning to normal.
But can it ever be normal again? For the first time in history, the world is suffering from the same problems. I say the first time only because this is the first pandemic in the age of global communications - we can see and hear exactly what is happening in every country in real time. Most of the mainstream news is trustworthy unless you live in a country that is economical with the truth. This does not apply to Singapore or the UK.
Society is being urged to come together for the common, national, good, but also for the good of the world we have come to know - one of interlocked economies that has created so much wealth. But the wealth is unevenly distributed and our opinions on people and organisations have been driven by the value that we put on them and the benefits we can derive from them.
