Taking a sustainable digitalisation route

Singapore has taken the correct first steps towards the mission to balance the country's appetite for digitalisation and the need for sustainable solutions.

    IN THE face of a looming climate crisis, businesses can no longer afford to ignore their impact on the environment. Sustainability and business growth must go hand in hand in order to balance economic opportunities with our responsibility to the planet.

    Countries across Asia are taking a step in the right direction, from Vietnam's mega solar infrastructure projects, to South Korea's pledge to invest billions into green jobs, renewable energy, electric cars and energy-saving buildings.

    However, the world is also undergoing digitalisation at an unprecedented rate, sped up by the effects of the global pandemic. Underpinning this digital transformation is the demand for energy-hungry data centres, which is only set to grow in the coming years.
