Trump needs to define his foreign policy

He should discuss his 'America First' policy in terms of the nation's political and strategic interests and not as a cost-effective analysis or a discussion of his skills as a negotiator

IT may sound as a cliche of sorts, but Americans don't elect their presidents with the expectation that they would fix the minimum wage. They recognise that the system of checks and balances and the power of the Congress and other institutions make it difficult for any White House occupant to make major changes in economic and social policies.

But voters are aware that during most of the post-World War II era, American presidents did play a critical role when it came to foreign policy and national security. And when they elect a president, they make their choice based on their assessment of the ability of a presidential candidate to make the right decisions on issues of war and peace.
