IF YOU buy into the foreign-policy narrative being advanced by fans of US President Donald Trump these days, recent actions in the international arena taken by the White House occupant have heralded a new Trump Age of American diplomacy, as the assertive projection of the US military helps shift the global balance of power in American direction.
Gone are the days of military inaction, of making nuclear deals with Iran and leading from behind under former president Barack Obama, who, after warning that the use of chemical weapons by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against the rebels contesting his regime was a "red line", chose not to order military action in response to evidence that the Syrian president had used sarin gas against his own people.
