MEMBERS of the so-called Republican Establishment had a dream: Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald J Trump playing the role of the, well, presidential candidate of one of the two major American political parties.
Here he was, the next leader of the world's only remaining superpower being crowned as the GOP's presidential nominee during the Republican nomination convention in Cleveland, Ohio, in July, joined by his vice-presidential pick: Let's dream: Susana Martinez? The Republican Governor of New Mexico, the first elected female governor of a "purple" state that the GOP has to win in November, who also happens to be the most powerful Latino politician in the country. Trump-Martinez could be a Republican presidential ticket that could help the Donald counter the allegations that he was a misogynist and a Hispanic hater.
