The UK, EU have to end the Brexit saga once and for all

IT HAS been six months since I last wrote on Brexit. At that time, it was going nowhere, despite various deadlines. And so it proved, with deadlock in the UK Parliament and eventually a change of prime minister, which has just taken place.

The new PM, Boris Johnson, has pledged his career to solve the whole problem by Halloween. Cue media tales of ghouls and ghosties.

In reality, there is a major shift in negotiation strategy, which was so bogged down under his predecessor Theresa May. The UK has finally decided to tell the EU that it is leaving, come what may. This puts the ball back in the EU court to respond and the new government has spent a lot of time (and maybe money) on preparing the country for a "no deal" Brexit.
