What does Trump want on foreign policy and trade?

The Man with No Plan is leaving everyone - from pundits to diplomats - disoriented

AFTER US President Donald Trump nominated former American ambassador to the United Nations and super-hawk John Bolton as his new national security adviser, a friend emailed me to inquire whether "Trump is thinking now about reaching a nuclear deal with North Korea and then attacking Iran's nuclear sites".

I responded that "it seems to me that you are giving the guy too much credit, regarding the 'thinking' thing", my argument being that the current White House occupant has no serious long-term strategy when it comes to North Korea and Iran, or, for that matter, any major foreign policy issue.

Mr Trump apparently didn't have any personal "chemistry" with the outgoing national security adviser, retired General HR McMaster, and having watched Mr Bolton comment on national security on his favourite cable news channel, Fox News, his impression was that the moustached and tough-talking pundit speaks his mind and exudes "strength". But then he didn't pay a lot of attention to what the former US ambassador proposed to do about Pyongyang and Teheran (which is to bomb them ASAP).
