THEY had counted on Special Counsel Robert Mueller to indict him for his alleged "collusion" with the Kremlin. They had hoped that impeaching him would create a momentum in Congress and around the country to oust him from office.
And they have been confident that US President Donald Trump's divisive personality and misbehaviour in office would reduce whatever remains of his popularity among suburban Republicans, especially women, and the politically independent, and ensure that he would not be re-elected in November. Like, there is no way that that could happen. Yeah. We said the same thing in 2016. But this time it is going to be different!
