Yangon must change its Rohingya policy
Start by implementing the recommendations of the Kofi Annan commission.
MYANMAR'S leader Aung San Suu Kyi has much to celebrate as the economy is tipped to be an outperformer in Asia, and her renewed push for peace talks with the long-warring ethnic factions holds promise.
These achievements, alas, are blemished by her silence and inaction to end the mass killing and forcible displacement of the 1.3 million Rohingya Muslims from their homes in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
Although she is the topmost political leader at the rank of State Counsellor, Ms Suu Kyi is powerless to stop the violence as real power is controlled by the military and the Buddhist nationalists.
