THE digital landscape has undergone a seismic shift over the past decade. What started as a humble platform for individuals to share videos and connect with others has now evolved into a thriving economy with billions of dollars at stake. The creator economy, which revolves around content creators and their audiences, has become a central pillar of this transformation. What’s the growth potential of the creator economy, particularly in Asia, and what are the trends that will shape its future?

The term “creator economy” encompasses the ecosystem of digital content creators, their audiences, and the platforms that facilitate their interactions. This economy has grown exponentially, driven by the increasing consumption of digital content and the democratisation of content creation tools. According to recent estimates, the creator economy is currently valued at US$250 billion and is projected to reach US$480 billion by 2027.

Asia, home to some of the world’s largest and fastest-growing markets, has become a hotbed for the creator economy. Countries such as China, India, Indonesia, and South Korea are leading the charge, with millions of active creators producing content for a diverse and highly engaged audience.
