To peace in a pod
Jean-Marc Duvoisin, CEO of Nespresso, talks about the 'peacekeeping' effect of growing coffee, and the Hollywood star power fronting the pod brand's sustainability efforts.
STRONG short coffee courses through the veins of Jean-Marc Duvoisin. He is, after all, chief executive of coffee-pod maker Nespresso, a division of Swiss food giant Nestlé - and on a mission to spread the gourmet coffee culture around the world.
The 58-year-old Swiss never used to count how many coffees he imbibes daily, but now says he sometimes drinks up to 10 cuppas a day.
"I drink it strong and black. I suppose I drink between five and 10 a day. I'm never sick of coffee," he declares. And, for someone who got into the caffeine habit "rather late" - "I only started drinking coffee when I was in the university; before that, I only drank milk and chocolate milk" - he likes his coffee real strong.
