Harris knew exactly how to rattle Trump at the debate

She needled the former president about the size of the crowds at his rallies and insisted that global leaders have told her that he is ‘weak’ and a ‘disgrace’

    • The split screen told the story. On one side was Trump, squinting, glowering and snarling through his sentences. On the other side was Harris, alternately smiling and incredulous over whatever falsehood Trump happened to be delivering at the moment.

GOING into Tuesday (Sep 10) night’s debate in Philadelphia, Vice-President Kamala Harris needed to do two things: Prosecute the case against her opponent, former president Donald Trump, and more importantly, make the case for why voters should elect her president.

Let’s just say she understood the assignment.

In 90 contentious minutes, interspersed with fact-checking by ABC News moderators Linsey Davis and David Muir, Harris managed not only to introduce herself, her values and her policies to voters but also put Trump on the defensive in a way no other opponent has done in a debate.
