WORLD leaders will gather this week (Nov 30) at the United Nations’ 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to work together to tackle climate change. One of the COP’s focus areas is to limit global warming to 1.5 degree Celsius. To be on target, emissions must be halved by 2030 – just another seven years to meet the goal.

Some 80 per cent of the world’s total carbon emissions come from global supply chains. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, supply chains account for more than 90 per cent of an organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions.

These statistics point to the risk – and opportunity – that exists in supply chains in tackling climate change.
