IN PREPARATION for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos last week, I asked some who had been there to share with me their experiences. A few said they had enjoyed the country cocktails, where a host nation shows off its culture and cuisine. Others offered tips on how to monitor the many simultaneous sessions.

Through all my conversations, however, one theme kept coming up: relevance. To many, the annual Davos gathering is a grand week of talking shop. Its impact is contentious.

After more conversations on the sidelines of Davos, here’s my conclusion: With some thought towards inclusivity, it has the potential to be much more meaningful.
