    WHILE higher inflation and the global economic slowdown have impacted business across industries, it is fair to say that tech as a sector has been hit hardest. Having worked in a tech startup for a large part of the last decade, I have experienced the highs and lows of the industry.

    The 2020s are redefining what makes a good investment from a venture capitalist’s point of view. According to industry data, during the last half of the 2010s, there was a surge in venture capital (VC) investments – in all, from 2016 to 2020, in the United States alone, VC investment increased by an astronomical multiple of around four compared to the same period a decade before.

    The flush of available funds enabled founders the luxury of making mistakes and time to rectify those errors. However, in the last 12 months, founders have been cut far less slack.
