THE Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) is fast moving towards the implementation of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of 2015. By creating a single market and production base for the region, the AEC aims to ensure that the entire Asean population is able to enjoy a free flow of goods and services and at the same time, observe a competitive environment for businesses to grow and expand. Yet as we approach the launch deadline of Dec 31, 2015, it is clear that not everyone understands its potential impact or the significance of the AEC. Businesses are growing curious about how it will shape their industries, their firms, their organisation charts and their jobs.
