Aviation needs real-time satellite-GPS tracking

I REFER to "UN pushes for better aviation tracking system" (BT, Jan 8).
There is concern that it would be costly to transmit information from aircraft to the satellites.
However, I hope all aviation players would agree to pool their resources for a satellite-GPS system for the aviation industry, like the Inmarsat satellite system for the shipping industry. Surely the airline industry can afford it.
