Congestion issues at Jewel Changi Airport should be looked into
SOMETIME in the first half of next year, the world's best airport will get just a bit better. That is when the S$1.7 billion Jewel Changi Airport opens to travellers and the public.
Spanning some 134,000 square metres, the 10-storey dome shaped glass and steel complex will house numerous gardens, visitor attractions, a hotel, aviation facilities and 300 retail and dining outlets. Already 90 per cent of retail space at the Jewel has been taken up ahead of its expected opening next year. Most tenants are global and local marquee names.
The consortium of world-renowned architects and designers, led by Moshe Safdie, has left nothing to chance when it comes to wowing the crowds. The centrepieces include a Rain Vortex, the world's largest indoor waterfall, the Forest Valley, an indoor garden spanning five storeys, and a Canopy Park at the topmost level, featuring gardens and leisure facilities.
