THE rapid shift to a clean, green global economy is the greatest economic opportunity in human history.
I know that Singapore is playing a leadership role in this transformation, particularly in its Year of Climate Action. As Asean chair, Singapore is hosting this week a special ministerial meeting on climate action. Delegates from around the world are also congregating in Singapore to discuss solutions for sustainable development at the World Cities Summit, Singapore International Water Week and Clean Enviro Summit.
As part of this agenda, the UK jointly hosted the Green Growth and Business Forum with the Singapore government on Monday. This was a collaborative platform to identify new opportunities, deliberate on sector-specific challenges and forge increased green growth leadership. I chaired a session on Leadership in Action and heard inspiring stories from Singaporean and British companies pioneering green growth.
