The American president's recent moves, including his populist agenda and lack of strategy to tackle the pandemic, are hurting the US economy and his re-election bid.

Mr Trump has played down the threat posed by the deadly novel coronavirus, and has even refused to wear face masks, a requirement enacted by his own public health advisers.
