Most restrictions eased, but it's not time to release the handbrakes fully
DAILY life will have a quite different look and feel for many people in Singapore this week, as the country marks a significant milestone in the longer term strategy to live with Covid-19.
From today (Mar 29), groups of up to 10 can gather or dine at eateries. The restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcohol after 10.30pm have finally been lifted. The wearing of face masks is now optional when outdoors. As many as three-quarters of those who can work from home are allowed to return to the workplace. Live performances can resume at all venues. There are larger capacities allowed for events.
On the travel front, those fully vaccinated can enter Singapore from Apr 1 with just a pre-departure Covid-19 test. Even the need for this test could possibly be removed in the coming weeks, depending on how the local and global Covid-19 situations pan out.
