Washington
SO we are back in USA 1960. Democrat John Kennedy is running against Republican Richard Nixon in a heated presidential campaign. He is a staunch Democrat who plans to vote for Senator Kennedy in November, and his teenage daughter approaches him with the news. She has a new boyfriend who wants to take her to the prom. And she wants to introduce him to her parents over dinner.
"But dad, I have to warn you that his father is a Republican who is going to vote for Vice-President Nixon," she explains. In response, the father bursts out laughing: "Who really cares? I am looking forward to meeting with him, and I'll be delighted if he takes you to the prom, as long as he is a nice guy from a good family of either Democrats or Republicans."
