Protecting the retail investor

I REFER to the letter from Jimmy Ho, "MTP initiative hurts retail investors: SRS" (Nov 6) and could not agree more with him.

The minimum trading price is strictly an exercise by an exchange to streamline the pricing of its mainboard. Investors should not pay for the failure of companies to comply with an established minimum price.

Over the past few months, I have received many complaints from friends that their share investment portfolios at the Central Depository shrunk significantly in value. Judging from the number of fellow investors giving me this feedback, the total number affected must be significant. I wonder if the authorities are concerned about this issue.
