Responsible AI as a force for good
IN an increasingly dynamic public safety landscape, new and emerging technologies - including artificial intelligence (AI) - have the potential to transform the way that government and emergency services manage their daily work to keep communities and citizens safe.
From helping first responders work more efficiently every day, to giving civilians a more participative role in protecting their communities and even predicting events before they occur, our data-rich world is unlocking new capabilities that we could once only dream of.
Although the ethical debate around the use of AI technologies continues (take Google's eerily human-sounding human chatbot, Google Assistant, for example), it is important to understand that AI does not replace the need for people. Rather, it can help humans perform tasks more quickly, accurately and effectively.
