Shareholders now increasingly engaged, key that they attend AGMs
I refer to BT's April 14 Hock Lock Siew column, 'AGM bunching: Don't fight it, just step around it' by Kenneth Lim.
I am disappointed that a possible solution to reducing the clustering of annual general meeting dates for companies having a Dec 31 year-end, by allowing May as an additional month to hold AGMs, was rejected in the column.
It was further suggested that as the number of companies with a December year-end increases as a result of new SGX listings in the future, the problem will only get worse so we should just accept the situation.
