Trump's re-election bid is in Big Trouble

YOU might almost feel sorry for President Donald Trump when you watch his somewhat unnerving performances during the daily televised news briefings of the White House Coronavirus Task Force and then read the ensuing angry tweets (in which he seemed to confuse the Pulitzer Prize with the Nobel Prize - and he spelled "Nobel" as "Noble").

Even his harshest critics would admit that only a few weeks ago, he was reigning over a booming American economy, with low rates of unemployment and a bullish stock market, and that he probably had a better-than-50-per-cent chance of getting re-elected in November.

That the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, former vice-president Joe Biden, was not exciting American voters made it even more likely that the Donald would be back in the White House next February.
