Blackstone to buy property globally this year

BLACKSTONE Group LP plans to be an active buyer of property assets around the world this year, as the US isn't close to a market top, says Kenneth Caplan, newly named chief investment officer for real estate.

"We'll be actively investing in the US as we continue to see good opportunities," Mr Caplan said in a telephone interview last Thursday from Cartagena, Colombia. "We'll also be investing across other parts of the world. To use Europe as an example, last year was the most active year we've ever had in Europe. I expect that heightened activity will continue this year."
