Carson grilled on his vision for housing
It was a generally friendly session in front of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, but doubts remain on his lack of government experience
Washington
BEN Carson on Thursday detailed his vision for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): one that integrates government-assistance programmes with "holistic" solutions and greater involvement of businesses and faith groups.
Speaking before a generally friendly Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, he repeatedly suggested that the private sector should play a larger role in addressing poverty and systemic inequities and invest in "human capital" to raise quality of life and profits.
