Go-ahead for Johor projects could open way for petro-hub

THE approval given by Malaysia for some 4,090 acres (1,655 ha) of reclamation works for two mega developments in the Johor Straits could set the scene for another project - a 3,485-acre integrated petroleum and petrochemical hub at the tip of Tanjung Piai - getting the green light.

If approved, the petroleum hub will be undertaken by Kuala Lumpur listed Benalec Holdings Bhd via its 70 per cent subsidiary Skeptrum Kukuh Sdn Bhd; the Johor royalty has a stake in the joint venture, as well as in Forest City and Tanjung Puteri, the two developments given the go-ahead.
