HDB rentals flat in March but leasing volume up 29%: SRX

    HDB rentals were flat in March, inching up a marginal 0.1 per cent from February, according to the SRX Property Price Index for HDB Rentals.

    Three and four-room flats both posted a 0.4 per cent increase in rents, while five-room and executive flats saw 1.3 per cent and 1.8 per cent drops in rents respectively.

    This is the first time HDB rental prices have stopped declining in the seven months since August 2014, SRX said.

    Year on year, rents in March were down 3.5 per cent from March 2014.

    Rents change in February has also been revised from a 0.3 per cent decrease to a 0.6 per cent decrease.

    Meanwhile, HDB rental volume improved. According to the SRX Property, about 1,838 HDB flats were leased in March 2015, a 29.4 per cent increase from the 1,420 units rented in February.

    Year on year, however, the rental volume in March was 3.8 per cent lower than the 1,910 units rented in March 2014.
