BUYERS are coming back to the Hamptons, a favourite vacation home spot for Wall Street's elite. They are just not splurging on mansions.

Across all price tiers, purchases in the Long Island beach towns rose 8 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier to 472, the biggest increase since 2014, according to a report last Thursday by appraiser Miller Samuel Inc and brokerage Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
