GIC JV buys student-housing portfolios in US for US$1.6b

SINGAPORE sovereign wealth fund GIC and two partners announced on Thursday (US time) that their student-housing joint venture (JV) has bought another three US student-housing portfolios for about US$1.6 billion.
The portfolios now owned by Scion Student Communities, which holds one of the largest privately held portfolios of student-housing assets in the US, comprise:
