HK govt to increase land supply to ensure adequate housing
It plans to re-zone 150 sites for residential use
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong will continue to ensure that people are adequately housed by increasing land supply, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said yesterday.
Delivering his second policy address at the Legislative Council here, Mr Leung said that with a high population density, Hong Kong's living condition troubles many of its residents. More than half of private domestic units have a saleable area of less than 50 square metres.
Mr Leung perceived that serious housing shortage was at the core of the problem and said the government had continued to address it through the development of new land and by increasing housing supply in the short, medium and long terms.
