Two land parcels awarded to innovative, eco-friendly tenderers
THE Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has awarded the tender for two land parcels - one for vegetable farming in Sungei Tengah, and the other for general agriculture or food farming Lim Chu Kang.
The land parcel for vegetable farming at Sungei Tengah was awarded to Nextgen Farms Pte Ltd and Livfresh Pte Ltd for S$174,000, and the parcel for general agriculture to local goat farm Hay Dairies Pte Ltd for S$500,000.
The SFA said that these companies submitted proposals that incorporated productive and innovative farming systems, as well as eco-friendly features such as solar panels, smart lighting and integrated waste management systems.
The Sungei Tengah plot, 11,917.1 sq m in size, was tendered using the fixed price method, where proposals were assessed based on production capability, production track record, relevant experience and qualifications, and innovation and sustainability.
Nextgen Farms and Livfresh had, for example, included in their plans a mobile gully system and nutrient film technology hydroponic systems to enhance farm productivity and reduce manpower needed for operations.
The 10,000.1 sq m Lim Chu Kang plot has been earmarked for the production of food crops, seafood, quails' eggs, cattle and frogs. Tenderers had their concepts assessed in the first phase on production capability, production track record, relevant experience and qualifications, and innovation and sustainability. Tenderers who passed the first stage were evaluated on price in the second stage.
