AI set to become the new ‘arms’ race
An upcoming BT forum will dive into the economic impacts of artificial intelligence in Asia
THE Business Times will put the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) under the spotlight at the Asia Future Summit on Oct 7.
Under the theme The Next “Arms” Race, the forum will delve into the fierce competition among countries and corporations to establish AI infrastructure and operations, questioning whether AI is a fleeting trend or a pivotal economic driver for Asia.
Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing will be the event’s guest of honour. He will be joined by AI Singapore senior director Leslie Teo, and OCBC group chief operating officer Lim Khiang Tong for a panel discussion moderated by BT’s head of audio Claressa Monteiro.
Dr Teo’s keynote speech will touch on Singapore’s unique position in the AI landscape, while the panel will cover broader topics such as the essential skills required for effective AI model training, and the potential dangers posed by AI technologies.
The forum also aims to address pressing questions, such as how much investment is needed to keep pace with global advancements, where the talent pool lies, and whether AI can be democratised for broader access.
There will be networking opportunities for industry leaders and policymakers, with the forum gathering many stakeholders who are invested in the future of technology in the region.
