AIA Singapore’s value of new business rises 16% in H1 to US$259 million
Annualised new premium up 28% at US$547 million
[SINGAPORE] AIA Singapore’s value of new business grew 16 per cent on the year to US$259 million for its first half ended Jun 30, from US$219 million in the year-ago period, on a constant-exchange-rate basis.
The higher value of new business, a measure of expected profits from new premiums, was driven by strong performances among its distribution channels. The agency and partnership distribution channels recorded double-digit growth, AIA Group said on Thursday (Aug 21).
The insurer said that its tied-distribution channel, comprising its agency force and AIA financial advisers, posted growth for the half-year on the back of an increased number of active agents and enhanced agent productivity.
Its partnership-distribution channel recorded growth on strong sales of its wealth propositions to high-net-worth customers, it said.
Wong Sze Keed, chief executive officer of AIA Singapore, said: “AIA Singapore delivered very strong business performance in the first half of 2025, marked by substantial growth across value of new business, annualised new premium, total weighted premium income and operating profit after tax.”
For the six months, AIA’s value of new business margin fell by 4.9 percentage points to 47.4 per cent, compared with 52.4 per cent in the previous corresponding period.

Its annualised new premium rose by 28 per cent to US$547 million, from US$417 million in H1 2024.
Total weighted premium income – an indicative measure of transaction volume – advanced 17 per cent to US$2.6 billion from US$2.2 billion, primarily from strong business growth.
Operating profit after tax rose by 4 per cent to US$355 million, from US$343 million previously. This came amid strong business growth, but was partly offset by lower investment income on surplus assets due to increased remittances to support share buybacks.
AIA Group is listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It operates in 18 markets and its total assets stood at US$328 billion as at Jun 30, 2025.
