WHILE Singapore's border reopenings could ease manpower pressures in the coming months, they are unlikely to alleviate the shortage of professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMET), said watchers.
Job vacancies in Singapore hit an all-time high last year, with 44 per cent of them comprising newly created positions, according to the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) Job Vacancies 2021 report.
As of September 2021, there were 104,200 vacancies, nearly double the 53,300 available in the year-ago period.
