THE government will continue to provide additional support to Singaporeans as part of Budget 2025, said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong on Tuesday (Feb 18).

Every Singaporean household will receive S$800 in Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers. The first tranche of S$500 in vouchers will be disbursed in May this year, while the remaining S$300 in vouchers will be disbursed in January 2026.

Wong, who is also the prime minister, said that half of the vouchers are to be used at participating supermarkets, while the other half can be used at participating heartland merchants’ stores and hawker stalls.

In addition, eligible HDB households will receive up to S$760 in U-Save rebates to help them cope with utilities expenses.

PM Wong said that this is double the amount of regular U-Save rebates, and will cover about six months of utilities expenses for one and two-room flat households, and three months of utilities expenses for three and four-room flat households.

Further, the government will give families S$500 in LifeSG credits for each Singaporean child aged 12 and below. The credits can be used at merchants that accept Nets QR and PayNow UEN QR payments.

Meanwhile, Singaporeans aged 13 to 20 this year will receive a S$500 top-up to their Edusave accounts or Post-Secondary Education Accounts.

Households facing greater financial stress will receive more support, the finance minister said.

ComCare Assistance schemes will receive increased rates to support lower-income households with basic living expenses.

“For example, a one-person household on Long-Term Assistance will receive an additional S$120 each month, bringing the monthly cash assistance to S$760,” he said, adding that households on Short-to-Medium-Term Assistance will also receive more than before based on their composition, needs and income.

Community organisations will receive more support through the ComCare Interim Assistance scheme to help households in need.

The Singapore Allowance will also be increased from S$350 to S$390 per month to support those with smaller pensions. The Singapore Allowance is an ex-gratia payment that some pensioners receive.
