    SINGAPORE'S poorest households were hit hardest by inflation in the second half of last year because of higher food prices.

    As the bottom 20 per cent of households by income devote a larger share of expenditure to food, they felt the effects of higher food prices most keenly. For them, consumer prices rose by 1 per cent.
