THE government "will keep an open mind" to various ideas for strengthening Singapore's safety nets, such as a minimum wage, universal basic income, and unemployment insurance, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat in Parliament on Monday.
But it will do so while considering the trade-offs, and staying true to principles such as not creating dependency, he added.
