Manager at two restaurants is sole local Covid-19 case

[SINGAPORE ] A 44-year-old manager at Spice Grill Restaurant in Gopeng Street and Rangoon Bar & Bistro in Rangoon Road was the sole Covid-19 case reported in the community on Monday (April 19).

The permanent resident was last at work last Thursday (April 15).

He is the husband of the 41-year-old accountant at OM Universal who tested positive for the virus on April 16.

She - also a permanent resident - is a household contact of a previously reported case, a work pass holder who arrived from India on April 2 and had tested positive for the virus on that day.

But he was later assessed to be a recovered case, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The 44-year-old manager had been identified as a close contact of his wife and placed on home quarantine on Friday (April 16).

He is asymptomatic, and tested positive for Covid-19 during his quarantine.

He was tested on Saturday and taken to the hospital on Sunday after his test came back positive, said MOH.

MOH added that his serology test came back negative, indicating that this is a likely current infection.

MOH also said that epidemiological investigations are ongoing, and that all identified contacts of the case - including his co-workers - have been isolated and placed on quarantine.

There were also 19 imported Covid-19 cases for a total of 20 reported on Monday.

This brought Singapore's tally to 60,851.
