New playbook, online tool to help Singapore SMEs adopt AI; SkillsFuture scheme to be updated with AI content
Both the GenAI Playbook and GenAI Navigator can be accessed on IMDA’s CTO-as-a-Service platform
SINGAPORE’S companies can now turn to a free playbook and online tool for guidance in adopting artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, said Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How on Friday (Mar 7).
The SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace 2.0 (SFDW 2.0) programme, which trains workers, will also be updated with content on AI and generative AI (GenAI).
Launched by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the GenAI Playbook aims to make AI adoption more accessible for enterprises across different stages of digital maturity.
It has guidelines on whether to buy off-the-shelf or customised solutions, and outlines the benefits, risks, governance and security best practices when implementing these.
It also includes case studies of enterprises that have gained from deploying GenAI, such as through increasing productivity or saving costs.
Complementing this is the GenAI Navigator, an online tool that recommends pre-approved solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises based on their needs. Separate grant funding of up to 50 per cent is available for these solutions.
Categories in the navigator include solutions for office productivity, customer engagement, marketing and human resources. More solutions will be added progressively after IMDA approval. The navigator also contains resources such as GenAI-related training courses. Both the playbook and navigator are available on IMDA’s Chief Technology Officer-as-a-Service platform.
Strengthening workers’ AI capabilities
As for workers, IMDA is working with SkillsFuture Singapore to update the SFDW 2.0 programme with AI and GenAI content. The SFDW was launched in 2017 to equip Singaporeans with digital literacy skills at the workplace, and relaunched in 2023 as SFDW 2.0.
Under the updated curriculum, workers with little or no tech background can gain knowledge and skills in using AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, to improve productivity. They can also get hands-on experience in using pre-approved GenAI tools, which enterprises can adopt with grant support.
