Singapore's unemployment rate holds steady at 2.6% in October: MOM

SINGAPORE'S citizen and resident unemployment rates dipped slightly in October, while the overall unemployment rate remained stable from a month ago, the latest data from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) showed.
Overall unemployment rate in October held steady from September at 2.6 per cent, MOM said in a report on Wednesday (Dec 1).
The unemployment rate for residents fell to 3.4 per cent from 3.5 per cent, while the unemployment rate for citizens dropped slightly to 3.6 per cent from 3.7 per cent.
In all, 80,000 residents here were unemployed in October, including 72,200 citizens.
Though unemployment rates continued to ease in October, MOM said they were still above the rates seen before the Covid-19 pandemic.
