[SINGAPORE] The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) on Tuesday (Mar 31) announced a significant refresh of leadership across six major statutory boards. The shifts are set to take effect on Wednesday.

At the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), long-serving chairman Bob Tan will relinquish his post after a seven-year tenure. During his time at the helm, Tan was credited with navigating the island through the pandemic and securing approval for the first phase of the Greater Sentosa Master Plan.

Taking over the chairmanship is Edmund Koh, chairman of Asia-Pacific at UBS and a veteran of the financial services sector. He previously held senior roles at DBS and Prudential.

Koh, who received the Public Service Star in 2025, will be joined by six new board members at SDC – including MTI deputy secretary (industry) Philomena Aw, Flagship Corporation Far East chairman and CEO Vernon Khoo, and 3M Group Asia general counsel Elizabeth Kong.

The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) is also seeing high-profile shifts, most notably with the appointment of Chng Kai Fong as deputy chairman.

Currently a permanent secretary at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, Chng will be tasked with coordinating Singapore’s national artificial intelligence efforts in his new capacity.

Professor Yeo Siew Haip, director at National University of Singapore Cities and former CEO of a unit of Surbana Jurong Group, will be appointed to JTC Corporation’s board. He joins the board as GXS Bank senior adviser Muthukrishnan Ramaswami prepares to step down from his role at JTC.

Teo Siong Seng, executive chairman of Pacific International Lines and chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, will join the board of Enterprise Singapore. He joins as Changi Airport Group chairman Lim Ming Yan prepares to step down from the statutory board.

Meanwhile, the Energy Market Authority is set to have SPH Media Chinese Media Group deputy editor-in-chief Han Yong May and former Changi Airport Group chief financial officer Ng Lai Leng join its board.

Thien Kwee Eng, the CEO of SDC, has been reappointed to the board of the Singapore Tourism Board.
