[SINGAPORE] Eurokars Group will introduce three car rental brands – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo – to the Republic.

In a statement on Thursday (Apr 16), the Singapore-based automotive company said it had entered into a franchise partnership with US-headquartered Enterprise Mobility to introduce the brands to the Singapore market through its car rental arm, Eurokars Leasing.

The first rentals from the new brands will begin in October, with locations in central and western Singapore. Both short and long-term rentals will be available, as well as chauffeur services.

Eurokars said there will be a wide variety of cars on offer and that the three brands will cater to different audiences: Enterprise Rent-A-Car is aimed at business leaders and executives, Alamo at budget-conscious travellers and National Car Rental at more well-heeled travellers.

The company described this as a strategic move that reflects the increasing popularity of car rentals and flexible access to vehicles, relative to conventional car ownership; added to this is Singapore’s position as a hub for travellers with expected increases in tourism.

Eurokars Group executive director Charmain Kwee said: “While vehicle ownership remains core to our business, we recognise the growing demand for convenience and sustainable alternatives.”

Marco Beltgens, assistant vice-president of global franchising for the Asia-Pacific at Enterprise Mobility, said: “As a key gateway between South-east Asia and the world, Singapore is central to our regional strategy and to serving the needs of an increasingly connected customer base.”

Enterprise Mobility is the trade name of Enterprise Holdings, a US-headquartered car rental company founded in 1957. One of the largest car rental companies in the world by fleet size and revenue, it is owned by the Crawford Group, the family of Enterprise founder Jack Taylor.

Eurokars Group is a multi-brand car dealership for BMW, Hongqi, IM Motors, Mazda, McLaren, MG, Mini, Pagani and Rolls-Royce in Singapore, founded by tycoon Karsono Kwee in 1985.

Kwee said that Eurokars Leasing’s fleet will expand in the coming years along with customer demand, along with its digital platform and service infrastructure. The rental fleet will not be limited to vehicles sold by Eurokars itself, but dictated by customer wants, she added.
