Global expertise and tailored solutions: How affluent S’poreans can grow and manage wealth across markets
As portfolios, businesses and families reach further afield, HSBC Premier Elite offers high-net-worth investors the insight, access and international connectivity to manage it all through one relationship
FOR many affluent Singaporeans, financial needs grow more complex with wealth. A once simple mix of savings and investments may now span a larger, more diversified portfolio, regional business interests and family members living or studying overseas.
This reflects a wider shift among wealthy investors and families. According to HSBC’s 2026 Global Affluent Investor Snapshot report, some 47 per cent of affluent and high-net-worth investors prefer exposure to markets outside their home country, up from 42 per cent a year earlier. This number is even higher in Singapore, where 50 per cent of affluent and high-net-worth investors are looking beyond borders for opportunities, above the global average.
This shift brings new priorities. Preserving wealth remains important, but so does making it work across markets, generations and borders – with specialist advice and banking support that can keep pace.
Against this backdrop, banking propositions like HSBC Premier Elite are designed to support evolving affluent aspirations across the spectrum of wealth, health, international and lifestyle needs. Accessible to clients with a total relationship balance of at least $1.2 million or equivalent, it brings together tailored advisory solutions, specialist market intelligence, bespoke health and wellness privileges and lifestyle benefits across travel, dining and entertainment in a single platform. With HSBC Premier Elite, clients benefit from seamless cross-border capabilities across HSBC’s international network.
Balancing protection and growth
According to HSBC’s research, preserving wealth is the top financial priority for affluent investors. At the same time, many are seeking broader diversification and more sophisticated ways to build and safeguard their portfolios. These needs become even more complex for affluent individuals who live or conduct business across borders.
“Singapore is a sophisticated market and a key wealth hub. Affluent investors here are well diversified and willing to broaden their horizons for the right opportunities,” says Ashmita Acharya, head of International Wealth and Premier Banking, HSBC Singapore.
“But as portfolios become increasingly complex and internationally connected, there is a clear need for more holistic and integrated wealth planning that can help clients meet their goals while balancing risk across markets, asset classes and life stages. This is where we come in.”
Through Premier Elite, clients can draw on HSBC’s global wealth expertise through a dedicated relationship manager, backed by a team of seasoned wealth specialists and private-bank level insights from HSBC’s global Chief Investment Office to help make sense of changing markets and identify opportunities that fit their broader goal.
They can also gain access to a wider range of investment solutions, including those reserved for accredited investors, alongside preferential pricing on selected products.
Yet portfolios are only one part of the picture. As clients’ financial lives become more international, their banking arrangements can also become more fragmented.
HSBC’s presence in 56 countries and territories allows clients to have a single touchpoint for banking support as their investments, businesses and families extend beyond Singapore.
In practical terms, this could mean viewing HSBC accounts across different countries in one place, seamlessly transferring funds internationally, or helping a family member establish banking arrangements overseas, all through a single point of contact, says Acharya.
“For example, a client from India, who is also a Singapore resident, wanted her children to study in Singapore and later move to the UK. We helped her finance a property in Singapore, create a succession plan via insurance and unlock liquidity for her second property in the UK through our wealth portfolio lending capabilities. One relationship, three countries, multiple goals – seamlessly supported during life’s key moments.”
Planning for health and longevity
Financial priorities are not the only considerations for affluent clients. Increasingly, health and quality of life are becoming an integral part of how they think about their wealth and the years ahead.
As life expectancy continues to rise, studies show that improving personal and family wellness is a top priority for affluent individuals in Singapore, on par with travel and lifestyle goals, and ahead of luxury spending. At HSBC, this trend is reflected in steady growth across health-related spend over the last five years, including a 35 per cent increase in the number of customers making health-related transactions on their HSBC credit cards.
Acharya says this means taking a more proactive approach to health – from preventive care and early detection to accessing the right support when medical needs arise, as well as finding ways to maintain health and well-being for longer.
Premier Elite clients can access a suite of health and wellness services designed to support these needs. This includes a 24-hour health concierge, expedited access to premium healthcare providers and longevity services through HSBC’s healthcare partners.
“Premier Elite privileges are all about bringing value to our affluent clients in the areas that matter most. And what we’re seeing is that they’re taking an increasingly holistic view of wealth, looking beyond financial outcomes to ‘live’ their wealth through health, wellness and longevity,” says Acharya.
“We recently enhanced our offering to support this shift, giving clients access to a comprehensive suite of health and wellness services under a single integrated banking proposition, delivered by trusted healthcare networks across Singapore and the region.”
Enriching the present
Wealth is not only about preparing for the future. It also shapes how clients spend their time and the experiences they share with the people around them. Premier Elite’s lifestyle privileges give clients opportunities to spend their time in ways that matter to them, whether with family, friends or close associates.
These include passes to HSBC’s sporting events such as the HSBC Women’s World Championship and HSBC Rugby Sevens Singapore; exclusive dining experiences at Michelin-starred restaurants; complimentary limousine rides and unlimited access to premium airport lounges, alongside existing Premier Mastercard benefits across dining, travel, lifestyle and entertainment.
For clients who travel or entertain regularly, these privileges offer useful benefits and access to experiences that may complement the way they already live.
“Affluent clients are discerning, internationally mobile and value access to exceptional experiences that match their wealth and lifestyle aspirations,” says Acharya. “Our Premier Elite privileges have been meticulously curated to reflect how our clients live, work and connect across borders and elevate their wealth journey in meaningful ways.”
More importantly, they enable clients to use their wealth meaningfully in the present, beyond just accumulating it.
“Singapore is one of the world’s leading wealth hubs and our clients here expect deep expertise and seamless, elevated experiences that meet them where they are,” says Acharya. “Our Premier Elite proposition reflects our commitment to keeping pace with their complex needs and supporting them in ways that truly integrate their wealth and lifestyle aspirations across borders, generations and life stages.”
