IMDA launches S$200 million Talent Accelerator Programme for Singapore’s media industry
It will focus on global distribution and intellectual property development in the sector
[SINGAPORE] The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched the Talent Accelerator Programme (TAP), a S$200 million initiative to support Singapore’s media industry.
The programme was announced on Wednesday (Dec 3) by Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How at the opening of the Asia TV Forum & Market 2025, part of the Singapore Media Festival.
IMDA said the initiative will run for three years and will focus on “global distribution” and “genre-driven intellectual property (IP) development”.
“The S$200 million TAP is a major investment to ensure that Made-with-Singapore content stands out on the international stage. We aim to build a stronger pipeline of stories with global appeal, strengthen Singapore’s position as a co-production hub, and reinforce our role as a trusted creative partner in the region,” said Tan.
Structured pathways
The programme creates structured pathways for talent to progress across the “media value chain”, which IMDA defines in three stages:
- Development: IMDA will match media professionals to what commissioners and buyers are looking for. Support includes mentorships and masterclasses to strengthen the creative concepts and “commercial foundations” of projects, such as financing models, distribution planning and IP ownership structures.
- Production: To establish Singapore as a regional co-production hub, IMDA will co-fund regional and global co-productions. This covers films, TV (scripted and unscripted) and IP adaptations.
- Distribution: A dedicated in-house marketing team will work to elevate the profile of Made-with-Singapore content. A marketing fund will also be structured for select projects to increase visibility and help stories reach global audiences.
IMDA stated that interested companies and professionals can apply through industry calls, with more details on the process to be released in Q1 2026.
Yvonne Tang, assistant chief executive in the media industry group, IMDA, said: “IMDA is building a robust ecosystem where international partners see Singapore not just as a location, but as an essential creative collaborator.”
