MEMBERS of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (Isca) can now apply to join CPA Australia without having to fulfil additional requirements.
On Sep 28, Isca signed a mutual-recognition agreement with its Australian counterpart to enhance talent mobility within the accounting profession, the institute announced on Friday (Oct 6).
Isca members applying to join CPA Australia must be chartered accountants (CAs) who have completed the Singapore CA qualification. They also need to have been Isca members for five consecutive years. Members of CPA Australia seeking Isca membership must have completed the CPA programme, the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification’s Integrative Business Solutions module, and other applicable qualifications. They also need at least three years of relevant working experience.
To arrive at this mutual-recognition agreement, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Isca and CPA Australia assessed the equivalence of the qualifying requirements in education, examination, practical experience, professional standards and regulations of both professional accountancy bodies.
The agreement was signed by Isca chief executive Fann Kor and CPA Australia chief executive Andrew Hunter. It was witnessed by Isca president Teo Ser Luck and outgoing president and chair of the board of CPA Australia, Merran Kelsall.
“Together with CPA Australia, we aim to create new opportunities for our members, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the global accountancy profession,” Kor said.
