MOF seeks public feedback for Budget 2026 on economy, jobs and social support
Views will be accepted until Jan 12, ahead of the Budget in February
[SINGAPORE] The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is seeking feedback from Singaporeans for the upcoming Budget 2026 on themes such as advancing the economy, securing good jobs and helping Singaporeans progress together.
In a press statement on Tuesday (Dec 2), the ministry said individuals, organisations and businesses have until Jan 12 to submit their views, ahead of Budget 2026, which is scheduled for February.
On advancing the economy, MOF said that economic growth is “essential for creating good jobs and opportunities for Singaporeans”.
But achieving this will require balancing innovation and efforts to expand the Republic’s growth capacity with its limited land and resources, while also addressing threats posed by climate change.
Therefore, respondents will be asked to consider how Singapore can strengthen its entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, help local firms compete and expand globally, and support businesses in adopting new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to transform and capture new growth opportunities.
On securing good jobs, MOF said new technologies, including AI, are changing industries and the way people work.
“The global economy is also changing as countries and companies prioritise resilience over efficiency. These changes create challenges and opportunities for Singaporeans in their careers,” it said.
For this theme, key questions include how Singapore can prepare students and workers for good jobs amid a more uncertain global economy, what barriers workers face in keeping their skills up-to-date, how employers can be encouraged to invest in career and skills development, and how seniors can stay productive while balancing work, life and retirement needs.
For the final theme on helping Singaporeans progress together, MOF said that “everyone has a part to play to build Singapore as an endearing home for all Singaporeans”.
For this theme, the consultation will look at how Singapore can ensure every child has the chance to fulfil their potential, strengthen support for seniors to age well, and better assist persons with disabilities.
Singaporeans wishing to provide feedback may do so through several channels over the next six weeks that include the Singapore Budget website, the Reach Budget 2026 microsite or the People’s Association ShareYourViews webpage.
